Nanergy Solar is carrying out Research and Development activity in three areas of science..
- 1. To develop multijunction thin film PV materials, to exceed 30% efficiency. To accomplish this goal, we are focusing on ternary semiconductor compounds such as CIGS (Copper Indium Gallium diSelenide) combined with a-Si (amorphous silicon) and a-Si carbide alloys. For the devices we are using multi-terminal interconnection.
- 2. We carry our Research and Development in energy storage technologies, including NiFe (Nickel-Iron) and lithium based batteries. We have also demonstrated hydrogen storage with different metal hydrides. We also focus on thin film a-Si for energy and hydrogen storage applications.
- 3. We carry out development on thin film module manufacturing equipment, for the same materials above that we use in our materials research work.
The company also carries out Research and Development activity under federal and state government contracts, and for third party industrial clients.
